Novamox is prescribed for treating infections in the ear, nose, and throat, infections related to the genitourinary tract, skin and skin structure infections, lower respiratory tract infections, gonorrhea, acute uncomplicated ano-genital and urethral infections, and for the eradication of H. pylori to help prevent the recurrence of duodenal ulcers. To ensure the continued effectiveness of Novamox and similar antibacterial medications, it should only be used for treating or preventing infections that are confirmed or highly suspected to result from bacterial causes.
The main active substance in Novamox is Amoxycillin.
Novamox is a moderate-spectrum, bacteriolytic, β-lactam antibiotic that treats bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is typically the preferred medication within its class due to its superior absorption following oral intake compared to other β-lactam antibiotics. Additionally, it can be used to treat cystic acne. Novamox is vulnerable to breakdown by β-lactamase-producing bacteria, so it may be administered with Novamox to reduce this vulnerability.
Consult with your physician to determine the appropriate dose of Novamox for you. The appropriate dosage can vary between individuals based on several factors, including age, body weight, disorder severity, and overall health condition. Do not change the dosage prescribed by your doctor without their approval.
If you suspect an overdose of this medication, seek emergency medical assistance immediately. Notify your local emergency department, your physician, and your local poison control center as soon as possible. Symptoms commonly associated with a Novamox overdose may include twitching of fingers and toes, muscle pain, confusion, agitation, coma, numbness in fingers and toes, and seizures. For optimal results, Novamox should be taken regularly. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible, but if it's time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once without your doctor's consent.
Frequent side effects of Novamox include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Please inform your doctor right away if you experience any of the following serious side effects: severe skin rash, hives, seizures, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), unusual bleeding or bruising, pale skin, or significant fatigue or lack of energy.
